Fishing

Perthshire stands as an unparalleled fishing retreat, beckoning anglers with its pristine rivers and lochs. Offering abundant salmon, trout, and grayling, the area combines nature's beauty with rich angling traditions.

The River Tay and its tributaries, including the Isla and the Ericht (after which our two Suites are named), are among the best salmon and trout rivers in Europe. They have the greatest flow of any river in Britain and over 15,000-rod catches of salmon have been recorded in one season.

The salmon season runs from January to October and fishing is available from Monday to Saturday. There is no salmon fishing in Scotland on a Sunday. The rights to fish for salmon are privately owned and permits are required to fish particular stretches or beats.

Brown trout fishing is also excellent with fish of up to five pounds regularly caught. There are many different trout fishing clubs and associations on the Tay system, each has its own permit policies, but generally, they offer daily, weekly, and seasonal tickets. The legal season for brown trout runs from March to October. And unlike salmon, it is legal to fish for brown trout on Sundays.
